NH State Police Detective Who Investigated YDC Abuse Claims Worked at YDC

Sgt. Kelly Healey, a NH State Police detective, has been the lead investigator of the YDC abuse allegations. Healey has interviewed alleged victims of YDC abuse, as well as the staff members being accused. Healey’s investigations have led to the arrest and prosecution of several former YDC staff, including the conviction of Brad Asbury.
Interestingly, Sgt. Healey also worked at YDC for 16 years as a gym teacher during the period of time when many of the alleged abuse cases occurred.
This begs the question, how is it possible that someone who once worked at YDC is selected to investigate abuse claims at the facility. Wouldn't that be considered an obvious conflict of interest? Apparently, the NH State Police didn’t think so.
I had the opportunity to interview several former YDC staff members who worked with Healey. Due to their fear of retaliation, they asked not to be named publicly, and I can certainly understand why. They described Healey as being “miserable” and stated Healey hated the YDC staff, the kids who were there and was difficult to work with.
While Healey was a gym teacher at YDC, she reported a physical assault of a YDC resident by a staff member, which led to the accused staff being terminated. Healey was also involved in fielding the initial accusations from David Meehan, one of the first former YDC residents to come forward with accusations of alleged abuse at YDC.
I’d like to pose a hypothetical scenario for everyone to consider. A NH state trooper has a child. That child comes forward and claims that he was sexually abused. The NH State Police assign the child’s mother, who is a state trooper to lead the investigation into her child’s abuse accusations. Would that be acceptable?
Sgt. Kelly Healey worked at YDC for years prior to joining the NH State Police. She knew the children, now adults, who have accused the YDC staff of abuse personally. She also knew the YDC staff members who are being accused and worked closely with them for years. How could anyone possibly justify assigning her to investigate the people she once looked after and worked with?
Here’s another question to consider. Aside from the one case of physical abuse Healey allegedly witnessed and reported during her tenure at YDC, how could it be possible that she didn’t witness any of the 1,500 other cases of abuse that the alleged victims are claiming occurred? How is it possible that not one of the 1,500 kids told Healey that they were being abused during her tenure at YDC.
As mentioned numerous times, the Granite Eagle will continue to report the facts and ask the tough questions no other NH news outlet has. I am not suggesting that abuse never occurred at YDC. But I will confidently say that there is no possible way 1,500 kids were physically or sexually abused at YDC.
I will also make an assertion that the YDC lawsuits are the biggest case of fraud ever to occur in the State of NH. Unfortunately, NH taxpayers are paying the price and will continue to do so for years to come. Innocent people’s lives have been ruined, all because of a deep web of corruption, lies and greed.
