Democrat behavior at SOTU was appalling

On Tuesday, February 24th, President Trump delivered his State of the Union (SOTU) speech to a joint session of congress. The highly anticipated speech lasted 1 hour and 48 minutes and broke the record for the longest SOTU speech in modern history.

Trump highlighted a long list of accomplishments, such as closing the border, the murder rate declining the most in recorded history, low gas prices, and the newly created “Trump Accounts”. Numerous times throughout the speech, Trump brought the crowd to its feet with people clapping and cheering.

The event also featured several SOTU attendees being recognized for their service to our country, including Army Chief Warrant Officer 5 Eric Slover and retired Navy Capt. Royce Williams being honored with the Medal of Honor. Trump also invited the men’s USA Olympic hockey team and recognized their gold medal win versus Canada.

While there were countless patriotic moments to highlight, the spotlight belongs to the Democrats. Interestingly, nearly half of Senate and House Democrats skipped the SOTU event. SOTU has traditionally been an event where politicians put aside their political differences and come together as Americans. Unfortunately, a large number of Democrats are not capable of doing that.

One of the hidden benefits of the SOTU is that it allows Americans to see firsthand how the people they elected behave and respond to the President’s view of the state of our country. During this year’s SOTU, we witnessed just how radical and outrageous a large number of elected Democrat officials truly are.

During one portion of Trump’s speech, he stated, "If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support. The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.” The vast majority of Democrats did not stand, while Republicans stood and cheered. That act alone shows you the mentality Democrats have and that should seriously concern every American, regardless of your political beliefs.

During another portion of his speech, Trump acknowledged Iryna Zarutska, the 23 year old Ukrainian refugee who was viciously murdered by a deranged lunatic in Charlotte, NC as she sat quietly on a train riding home from work. Her murderer was out on cashless bail and had been arrested 14 times prior to the murder. Trump also recognized Zarutska’s mother Anya, who was in attendance, during the speech. Republicans gave her a standing ovation, while the majority of Democrats refused to stand.

This example is eerily similar to when Trump recognized Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel, a teenager with terminal brain and spinal cancer, in March, 2025. Like they did at the most recent SOTU, Democrats stayed seated while everyone else stood to cheer and recognize DJ. It’s hard to fathom, but it certainly shows just how disconnected from America the radical Democrats are.

There were several other fine Democrat moments at the SOTU, like Rep. Al Green being ejected for pulling out a sign that said, “Black People Aren’t Apes”. We also witnessed Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib scream and interrupt Trump’s speech multiple times, but that should come as no surprise.

There are certain situations where people showcase their true colors. SOTU is one of those and what we witnessed was appalling, unpatriotic and an example of everything that is wrong in America. The behavior displayed at this year’s SOTU made one thing extremely obvious. The radical Democrats hate Trump more than they love America.
